Brand Spotlight: Bare Minerals

I've been using Bare Minerals brushes for quite a while, but until last month I hadn't really properly tried their makeup products.

I can never get foundation to match my skin tone myself, so my mum took me to the Bare Minerals counter in Boots and I got my colour and skin type matched to the best foundation for me. My mum also gave me a few of her other products that she had but hadn't used yet. I used all of these products in my Prom Makeup Tutorial and also my Gold Eye Makeup Tutorial that both went up recently so if you would like to see how any of the products look on the skin, head over there and check it out!

So, there are 4 products and 3 brushes I'm going to discuss in this post so I hope you enjoy it and I hope it is helpful to you!

So the first product is the Prime Time Foundation Primer. This is the one Bare Minerals product that I have tried before and I honestly absolutely love it. It is the best primer I have ever tried, even with other products that aren't by Bare Minerals it still works really well. It is a clear gel formula and it goes onto the skin so easily. You don't need to wait for it to dry or anything you can just get straight on with the application of your foundation. I honestly can't fault this product at all, it's such a great base for your makeup and really does help to make it last all day. This obviously isn't a full size product as I believe my mum received it in a set but for the full size 30ml product it is £22 which I think is a reasonable price for this product as a little goes a really long way.

This is the foundation that I got matched for. This is the Original SPF 15 Foundation and I believe it is in the shade 'Fairly Light'. I had never tried a powder foundation before this so I was a little skeptical when my mum took me along to get a colour match for it. However, my opinions on powder foundations have officially been changed forever! It goes onto the skin so well and it is very buildable so you can choose your coverage which I really like because some days my skin is feeling nice to me and I don't need really heavy coverage as I would do some other days. It also lasts really well both quantity wise and on the face. A little goes a long way and it stays on all day with the primer - I haven't been brave enough to try without! I've honestly absolutely loved this product since the first time I used it. It is a little too light for me now that I have a bit of a sun tan so this shade is probably more of a winter shade for me, but that's nothing a bit of bronzer can't fix! This is £26 so it is on the more pricey side for a foundation but I would highly recommend it to you if you can afford it. My mum was happy to pay for this for me so I was extremely lucky but I think I would pay £26 for this if I had the money.

The next product is the Mineral Veil which I think is in the hydrating translucent finish. I think this powder is brilliant and works so well with the foundation which of course you would expect it would being from the same brand. It goes on really nicely with a big fluffy brush and helps to create the matte finish without looking cakey and still keeping the makeup on a little longer and preventing the natural oils coming through as much. This is priced at £21 which again, I think is quite a reasonable price for what it is and the quality of the product. Of course, this is still on the much more pricey side than the things that you can buy on the high street and I promise you, Rimmel Stay Matte will do a fine job too! If you can afford it, I recommend you give this a try.

The final product before I move onto brushes is the All Over Face Colour in 'warmth'. This is priced at £20 which again, is expensive for quite a lot of people, including me but if you can afford to splash the cash a little bit, this bronzer is amazing and I recommend you try it out if you can! I can't stress this enough though, with this product, a little goes a VERY long way! As you can see in the images, it is actually a very, very dark powder so you really only need a tiny, tiny amount to get a good contour going. When I say tiny, I really do mean tiny. It blends really well and does give a very warm feeling to the skin, as explained in the name. I've also enjoyed using this to bronze up my face a little more as my foundation has been getting a little light after soaking up the very few rays the UK has to offer right now. Anyways, weather problems aside, this is a really good bronzer and the fact that you don't have to use much product means it will last a really long time which is a bonus considering the price.

And finally, the brushes. I love Bare Minerals brushes a lot, they're really good quality and I find they apply makeup really nicely. So, from left to right we have the Full Flawless Face (£24), the Flawless Face (£19) and then the Max Coverage Concealer (£14). Again, these brushes are slightly on the more pricey side of things but in my opinion they are 110% worth the money. The Full Flawless Face and the Flawless Face brushes are quite similar but the Full Flawless Face is much denser which makes it better for applying powder. I prefer to use the Flawless Face brush to apply bronzer as it is the perfect shape to work a contour. The Max Coverage Concealer brush has been my favourite concealer brush for probably going on 2 years now. I've actually got 2 Flawless Face brushes and 2 Max Coverage Concealer brushes I love them that much! However, all of these were given to me by my mum as she didn't need them! I don't have the money to be able to have bought all of this myself! As I was saying, the concealer brush applies a really good coverage of concealer and it is the perfect shape and size to go underneath the eyes to get rid of those dark circles! All in all, these brushes are amazing quality and they apply product so well and therefore, I would highly recommend them all to you as well as the makeup products I discussed above!

I hope this brand spotlight was of some help to you or maybe you just found it interesting to find out a little more about the brand's products, all is fine with me!

I will see you soon!

Love, Becca

P.S. Sorry this is going up so late! I've had a busy night!

  2. I use the bare minerals face wash and it's great! I've never invested in the make up, maybe one day once I've pulled myself away from Rimmel and MaxFactor

    1. I do get dry skin in some areas as I have combination skin and I find it doesn't necessarily dry me out more, but sometimes it does showcase the dry skin a little more which is a bit annoying. All of their brushes are amazing quality I would definitely recommend this brand :)

  6. I really want Bare Minerals, I remember last year saying I would buy some fr summer but then for my birthday I ended up getting an expensive foundation so didn't feel the need to buy Bare Minerals but my sisters use it and they're skin always looks incredible because of it! I think when my current foundation runs out I'm going to buy one of those Bare Mineral sets because it always looks so great and your post has made me trust the brand for sure now!x
